Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi, who was fined by BCCI over his controversial celebration, got into a heated spat with Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Abhishek Sharma during their IPL 2025 match on Monday. The incident took place on the 8th over of the SRH innings after Abhishek was caught in the deep for 59. The youngster looked in sublime form as he slammed 59 off 20 deliveries but he ended up gifting an easy catch to Shardul Thakur. Following the dismissal, Digvesh did his customary book-signature celebration but Abhishek was not happy as the duo got into a war of words. Replays showed that Digvesh gestured towards Abhishek after the dismissal and that could have flared tempers.

Earlier, openers Mitchell Marsh (65) and Aiden Markram (61) hit fifties as Lucknow Super Giants set a 206-run target against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL clash on Monday.

Marsh and Markram were in top form to put on 115 runs inside the first half but LSG lost their momentum in the second during which Eshan Malinga bowled an impressive spell of 4-0-28-0.

While LSG skipper Rishabh Pant (7) endured yet another poor outing, Nicholas Pooran (45) did well to help his side post 205/7.

Rishabh Pant poor show with the bat continued in the Indian Premier League, with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain getting dismissed for a six-ball seven during their crucial IPL 2025 match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday. Pant was caught and bowled by Eshan Malinga, who deceived the former with a slow yorker. The ball popped up in the air and Malinga made a stretching effort to grab it. Cameras spotted LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka leaving the stand following Pant’s dismissal.

Pant was roped in by LSG for Rs 27 crore at the mega auction last year. However, he has endured a disappointing season, scoring just 135 runs in 13 matches.

Meanwhile, SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl against LSG at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

LSG, barely hanging by a thread, is one of the three remaining teams competing for the last playoff spot. Currently on a three-match losing streak, Lucknow must win their remaining fixtures to move to 16 points and hope favourable results unfold in the rest of the clashes. New Zealand tearaway Will O’Rourke was handed his maiden Lucknow cap, marking his debut in the cash-rich league.

Their opponents have failed to replicate last year’s success and are already out of the race for the playoffs. Sunrisers, last year’s runners-up, failed to keep momentum on their side throughout their rustic season.

After winning the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins said, “I will have a bowl, you never know quite what to make of the wicket, so it’s better to chase. We haven’t played to our potential, so we are trying to hit our potential. We also had a few injuries. The team has been great, they have been honest that they haven’t been at their best. Travis Head misses out, and also Unadkat misses out for personal reasons.”

Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant said during the toss, “We don’t mind, we have got to do well. We are looking at one match at a time and not putting undue pressure on ourselves. I feel that as a team, we have regrouped well, and we are in a good space as a team. We have only one change, Will O’Rourke is making his debut.”

It is better to be safe than sorry, the Delhi high court remarked on Monday, as it heard a petition by Turkey-based company Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd against the revocation of its security clearance in the wake of the country’s support to Pakistan amid tensions with India.

On May 15, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) revoked Celebi’s security clearance, citing “national security”, days after Turkey backed Pakistan and condemned India’s strikes on terror camps in the neighbouring country and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The security clearance to the company was given in November 2022. 

“The rule is better safe than sorry,” a single bench of justice Sachin Datta told senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi who appeared for the aviation firm. 

Celebi operated in the Indian aviation sector for more years, offering its services at nine airports and employing over 10,000 people. It handles around 58,000 flights and 5,40,00 tonnes of cargo annually in India, PTI quoted its website as saying.

The court’s remarks came as Mr Rohtagi said public perception cannot be used to take away employment. “We are not a rogue company,” he said. 

While India is resolutely committed to global harmony and welfare, the world has now seen the country’s formidable strength, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Saturday, stressing that others pay heed to the “language of peace” only from the one who possesses power.

The RSS chief was speaking at a programme at Ravinath Ashram in Harmara, Jaipur.

Talking about the recent action against Pakistan, Mr Bhagwat said that India does not hate anyone, “but the world listens to the language of love and welfare only when you have power”, a statement said.

“This is the nature of the world. This nature cannot be changed. So for the welfare of the world, we need to be powerful and the world has seen our strength,” he said.

“The world’s welfare is our religion. This is especially a firm duty of Hinduism,” Mr Bhagwat said.

He said that India’s role is that of an elder brother, and it is working for peace and harmony in the world. Mr Bhagwat said that when Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Maldives were facing a crisis, India was the first to assist them.

The RSS chief said that there has been a tradition of sacrifice in India. “We worship and respect everyone from Lord Shri Ram to Bhamashah,” he said.
